A mild earthquake of magnitude 2.5 was reported in several areas of Karachi on Thursday causing fear and panic among residents.
People left their houses and workplaces and headed out for open spaces fearing a strong earthquake.
According to the Met Office in Karachi, the epicenter of the earthquake was located near the eastern outskirts of Karachi at a depth of 10 kilometers.
Karachi lies very close to a major fault line, where the Indian tectonic plate meets the Arabian tectonic plate. It is also situated on or close to four minor faults.
