At least 15 people, among them 10 schoolchildren, were burnt alive when a tanker filled with Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) exploded near Nankana Sahib city of Punjab province earlier today.
The incident took place in Kotwar village, on the outskirts of Nankana Sahib, where a tanker containing LPG hit a car before exploding.
After the powerful blast, fire erupted in the tanker and the car carrying four people. A rickshaw carrying more than 10 schoolchildren also caught fire.
Rescue officials said at least 15 people, including 10 schoolchildren, died on the spot and more than a dozen others suffered burn injuries.
Police, rescue teams and locals thronged to the scene and shifted the dead and injured to civil hospital.
Fire fighters also reached the spot and were busy in extinguishing the blaze which swallowed up several vehicles and shops on highway.
Police said dense fog triggered the tragic incident.
