KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait: A Kuwait desalination plant caught fire after an Iranian attack on July 18, prompting emergency measures to protect personnel and maintain the stability of the electricity grid, the government said.
The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said emergency teams responded with the Kuwait Fire Force and other authorities. All operational and emergency plans were activated immediately, according to the ministry statement carried by Qatar News Agency.
The Saturday incident affected a different power-generation and water-desalination facility from the one attacked on Friday, the ministry said.
Authorities contained Friday’s fire after the earlier attack damaged a large number of electricity-generating units. The ministry did not identify either plant or provide a casualty count for Saturday’s incident in the published statement.
