The Karachi water supply suspension will affect multiple areas of the city for two days starting April 25, as the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) begins maintenance work at the Dhabeji Pumping Station.
The shutdown will begin at 12 noon and is likely to disrupt the water supply across key residential and commercial areas of Karachi, Sindh.
Karachi will face a 48-hour water suspension in several areas as authorities carry out maintenance at the Dhabeji Pumping Station. KWSC confirmed that it will shut down nine pumps during the work, creating a daily shortfall of about 250 million gallons in the city’s supply system.
The disruption stems from infrastructure upgrades at the Dhabeji Pumping Station, a critical part of Karachi’s water distribution network.

A KWSC spokesperson said the shutdown is necessary to connect a newly constructed pipeline to the existing system. Authorities will begin work at midday on April 25 and plan to restart seven of the nine pumps on April 27.
The remaining two pumps will stay offline for an additional five days to complete the process, extending the partial disruption beyond the initial shutdown period.
Major Areas Face Water Shortage
The suspension of the water supply in Karachi will directly affect several densely populated neighbourhoods.
Affected areas include:
- North Karachi
- Surjani Town
