The metropolis has once again slipped into the grip of violence, as at least nine people were killed in separate firing incidents in different areas of the megacity during the last 24 hours.
Some as yet unidentified assailents sprayed bullets on a police mobile van standing on a picket near Powerhouse Chowrangi, killing ASI Rahim Khan on the spot and wounding constable Nadeem.
According to SP Gulberg Chaudhry Asad, the assailants were on motorcycles.
Meantime, tortured bodies of three abducted men were recovered from Abdullah Goth area in Baldia Town. Two of the deceased were identified as Najeebullah Mehsud and Abdur Rehman Mari.
40-year Akhtar Ali was shot dead near UP Morr.
A man was shot to death near Four-K Chowrangi; meanwhile, a firing incident claimed life of a woman in Lyari.
Meanwhile a man affiliated with a religious party, Bahadur was gunned down in North Nazimabad.
A man, Kamran, was shot dead during while he resisted a robbery attempt on board a mini-bus near Murgi Khana, Quaidabad.
