Rawalpindi, Punjab: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan underwent a medical examination at Adiala Jail on Tuesday, according to jail sources.
Doctors Dr Muhammad Ali Arif and Professor Nadeem Qureshi, assisted by a Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) medical team, conducted the examination inside the prison. Jail sources said the doctors carried out a follow-up eye examination and assessed the former prime minister’s overall health.
The medical team remained inside Adiala Jail for about 1.5 hours before leaving after completing the check-up. Sources said the doctors would submit their report to the Islamabad commissioner.
The examination came as PTI-backed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi failed to meet Khan at the prison. Speaking to the media near 26 Number Chungi in Islamabad, Afridi said authorities stopped him and his cabinet members from visiting the jailed PTI founder.

Afridi termed the move “discriminatory” and said meetings with family members, lawyers and personal doctors were a basic human right. He also claimed Khan had a serious eye condition and should receive treatment at a hospital of his choice.
Police placed barriers and closed roads near 26 Number Chungi to block movement toward Adiala Jail. The closures caused severe traffic congestion in Islamabad, including delays for travellers heading to Islamabad International Airport.
An ambulance was also reportedly caught in the traffic gridlock, with vehicles stranded for extended periods.
