Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has once again strongly asserted that last year’s general elections were marred by widespread rigging throughout Punjab, the traditional stronghold of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
During a press conference held in Lahore on Wednesday, Imran Khan outlined his party’s intentions to present a charter of demands to the government on May 11, accompanied by a defined time frame for their fulfillment. He described this initiative as a formidable display of “tsunami power,” which PTI supporters will manifest through a major rally at Islamabad’s D-Chowk.
Imran Khan is currently engaged in an active campaign to galvanize public support and build momentum in anticipation of PTI’s anti-rigging rally scheduled for May 11. In his address, he issued a clear warning to the PML-N leadership, cautioning them against any attempts to disrupt or sabotage the upcoming demonstration. He emphasized that such interference could precipitate the collapse of the current government.
“There is no point in participating in elections that are consistently manipulated. The people of Pakistan are demanding justice and transparency in the electoral process,” Imran Khan declared.
It is important to note that PTI did not secure victory in last year’s general elections, and the rally on May 11 will commemorate the completion of one year since the party’s electoral defeat. The event is expected to serve as a platform for PTI to renew its call for electoral reforms and accountability, reflecting the ongoing dissatisfaction among its supporters regarding the integrity of recent elections.
