IESCO Issues Excessive 1.8 Million Rupee Bill to Low-Income Laborer

Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has issued an electricity bill exceeding 1.8 million rupees to a low-income labourer.

According to reports, IESCO sent a bill of 1.842 million rupees to a labourer residing in a dilapidated house in Deena Ladhar.

The labourer reported receiving a bill for 56,000 rupees, which he paid by borrowing funds. Now, he has been issued another excessively high bill.

IESCO Sends 1.8 Million Rupee Electricity Bill to Poor Laborer

He expressed that, as a daily wage worker earning up to 1,000 rupees, he couldn’t pay such a substantial amount, describing the situation as a serious injustice.

In response, an IESCO spokesperson stated that the inflated bill was due to a clerical error in the computer system and assured that the bill would be corrected promptly.
