Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has issued an electricity bill exceeding 1.8 million rupees to a low-income labourer.

According to reports, IESCO sent a bill of 1.842 million rupees to a labourer residing in a dilapidated house in Deena Ladhar.

The labourer reported receiving a bill for 56,000 rupees, which he paid by borrowing funds. Now, he has been issued another excessively high bill.

He expressed that, as a daily wage worker earning up to 1,000 rupees, he couldn’t pay such a substantial amount, describing the situation as a serious injustice.

In response, an IESCO spokesperson stated that the inflated bill was due to a clerical error in the computer system and assured that the bill would be corrected promptly.
