A detailed court order issued in Islamabad declared former Pakistani President and Chief of Army Staff General (r) Pervez Musharraf wanted in the Abdul Rashid Ghazi murder case.
According to details, the written decision which declares Musharraf wanted is a two-paged verdict. Additional Sessions judge Pervaiz-ul-Qadir wrote the decision in which it was stated that non-bailable arrest warrants for the retired general had been issued yet he was allowed to travel abroad.
It was also stated in the written decision that Musharraf’s request for immunity from arriving at the court had also been rejected. Even then, the suspect has been constantly avoiding the court, it was written in the decision.
The decision further stated that under these circumstances, the court has decided to declare General (r) Pervez Musharraf wanted in the Abdul Rashid Ghazi murder case.
Abdul Rashid Ghazi had been liquidated in the 2007 Lal Masjid operation, when the armed forces surrounded the mosque and conducted an operation to free it from the militants who occupied it. Abdul Rashid Ghazi had died during the battle whereas Maulana Abdul Aziz had been caught, as he was trying to flee from the mosque in a burqa.
The Lal Masjid operation had been carried out under General (r) Pervez Musharraf’s regime.
