A recent survey by Gallup Pakistan reveals that 40% of the country’s population engages with social media, reflecting the medium’s growing influence nationwide.

According to the survey, while 60% of Pakistanis do not use social media, two out of every five are active users.

The findings indicate a significant generational divide in social media usage. Two-thirds of Pakistanis under 30 are active on platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, TikTok, and Instagram, whereas the usage rate drops to 30% among those aged 30 to 50.

The survey also highlights that social media engagement is predominantly higher among men than women.

Additionally, the data suggests a strong uptake of social media among the youth, particularly those born after 1994, with a usage rate of 62% in this demographic. This points to a shifting trend where younger generations are more connected and actively participating in digital social spheres than older age groups.
