A local court earlier today rejected bail pleas of nine Axact employees in a hearing pertaining to the fake degrees case.

Additional District and Sessions Judge South rejected the bail pleas of nine employees of Axact. The suspects include Shoaib Sheikh, Waqas Atiq, Zeeshan Anwar as well as others.

The defense attorney stated that since over one year the case against his clients had not proceeded to which the judge said that as per provisions of Section 161, the suspects could not be allowed to let go.

Axact, a Pakistani software company, was exposed last year by an article that appeared in the New York Times in which it was disclosed how the company used to sell fake degrees in exchange for cash.

Pakistani authorities acted against CEO of Bol network and Axact group and locked him up. Offices of the software company were sealed and closed.
