Reigning champions England displayed a fine all-round performance, overwhelming Pakistan by seven wickets at the Oval on Thursday. This was their last competitive match before defending their Twenty20 World Cup title.
The victory secured England a 2-0 win in a four-match T20 series. Games at Headingley and Cardiff were washed out without a ball bowled.
England started strong, chasing a modest target of 158. Phil Salt (45) and skipper Jos Buttler (39) shared a rapid opening stand 82.
Harry Brook ended the game with a six, as England finished on 158-6, winning with 27 balls to spare.
Earlier, England restricted Pakistan to 157. The tourists had been well-placed at 59-0 in the sixth over. They then slumped to 86-5 in a collapse starting when captain Babar Azam was out for 36.
After striking Jofra Archer for successive fours, Azam was caught at slip the next ball.
Adil Rashid took 2-27 from his four overs. Fellow spinner Liam Livingstone struck twice in an over. Fast bowler Mark Wood also took two wickets with well-directed bouncers.
After a brief rain break, Usman Khan repaired some damage with a brisk 38, taking Pakistan to 126-6.
