Pakistan will observe Eid ul Adha 2026 on Wednesday, May 27, after the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee confirmed the Zilhaj moon sighting.
Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad announced the decision after a meeting at the Pakistan Meteorological Department office in Karachi.
Azad said the committee received multiple moon-sighting testimonies from across the country before it unanimously confirmed the Zilhaj crescent.
Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committees also held meetings in Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta and Peshawar to collect and verify reports from their regions.

Muslims across Pakistan will observe 10th Zilhaj on May 27, marking Eid ul Adha with special prayers and the ritual of animal sacrifice.
Astronomical experts said the new moon was born at 1:01 a.m. on May 17. By sunset, its age had reached 18 hours and 34 minutes, making sighting possible.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department had earlier said clear weather could support the moon sighting. It also said Karachi’s clear skies improved visibility prospects.
