Islamabad: Due to some technical reasons, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will not be able to use biometric system in the upcoming NA-246 by-elections.
According to sources, due to limited time, ECP is not able to conduct by-elections via biometric system besides, amendments in the law are also required to use the biometric technology.
Biometric system is completely different than the system in use right now and its implementation in short time is not possible, the ECP asserted.
Earlier, Apex committee in a meeting held yesterday in Karachi had asked the ECP to use the system in NA-246 by-polls
