RAWALPINDI: Pakistan is providing Saudi Arabia with all necessary defence support and will continue doing so, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said.
In an interview with Independent Arabia, Chaudhry described Saudi sovereignty, territorial integrity and security as non-negotiable for Pakistan. He stressed the need to protect Haramain al-Sharifain, the Two Holy Mosques.
He added that Pakistan’s commitment to the Makkah Joint Defence Alliance was unequivocal. Support required to uphold that commitment was already being provided.
Responding to reports of Houthi escalation, Chaudhry pointed to Pakistani military deployments, operational measures and official statements. He said these actions showed the alliance’s collective deterrence mechanism was already operating. His warning extended to actors threatening any participating country.
Under the arrangement, Chaudhry explained, aggression against a member would prompt a collective response. Pakistan’s message was meant for those making threats directly, as well as those behind them.
However, he rejected suggestions that the alliance specifically targeted Israel, Iran or another state. Its deterrence mechanism applied to any actor threatening regional peace, stability or security.

While outlining those commitments, Chaudhry called for Muslim countries to avoid further confrontation. He argued that escalation offered no advantage to the countries involved. “We need to stop attacking each other.”
He added that Pakistan’s political and military leadership had been working to encourage de-escalation and peaceful solutions to regional disputes.
On the alliance’s organisation, Chaudhry pointed to the establishment of its General Secretariat and Strategic Political and Defence Committee. He described its implementation as visible on the ground.
Membership remained open beyond the three participating countries. Chaudhry explained that states sharing the alliance’s commitment to collective deterrence and regional security could join.
Asked about the arrangement’s purpose, he described collective deterrence as a warning to elements considering aggression against its members
