Apple opened pre-orders for its first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, on Friday, starting at $1,999 in the United States. Retail availability begins on October 23.
The base model includes 256GB of storage. Its design combines a 5.4-inch outer display with a 7.6-inch folding inner screen.
Apple says the inner display’s nano-texture finish reduces reflections and makes the crease less visible. Meanwhile, a titanium enclosure and precision hinge form the phone’s folding structure.
Powered by the A20 Pro chip, the device runs iOS 27 with software adapted for its changing screen layout. Users can run two apps side by side through Split View.

Content also adjusts as the phone folds, rotates or switches between displays. For photography, the Duo carries two 48MP rear cameras.
Users can frame selfies with those cameras while viewing the preview on the outer screen. They can also prop the handset on a surface for hands-free FaceTime calls and photographs.
However, the device uses Touch ID rather than Face ID; a fingerprint sensor is built into the side button for unlocking and authentication.
The phone retains Apple services and integrations, including iCloud, iMessage and Handoff between compatible devices.
