A common myth is that it discourages new participants from entering the cryptocurrency market. Many people mistakenly believe they must purchase a whole Bitcoin or Ethereum coin, which can cost tens of thousands of dollars.

Brian Armstrong, the CEO of Coinbase, is pushing back against this idea. He recently stated that this is a major misconception about how crypto investing works.

In a post on social media platform X, Armstrong offered clear advice for beginners. “You don’t need to buy a full Bitcoin or ETH to get started,” he said. He emphasised that you can begin buying and holding cryptocurrency with just a small amount of money. “You can start with a few dollars,” Armstrong noted, adding, “It’s never too late.”

A common misconception is that crypto is too expensive for new people.

You don’t need to buy a full Bitcoin or ETH to get started. You can start buying and holding crypto with a few dollars.

It’s never too late.

His comments come as Bitcoin trades above $115,000 and Ethereum exceeds $4,200. These high prices can be intimidating for those new to the market. Armstrong has also made a very optimistic prediction for Bitcoin. He believes the world’s leading cryptocurrency could reach $1 million by 2030.

He cites several reasons for this forecast. These include emerging regulatory clarity and growing interest from major financial institutions. Other industry experts share this “it’s still early” sentiment. They believe there is significant room for growth despite the recent surge in prices.

I think we'll see $1M per bitcoin by 2030.

Regulatory clarity is finally emerging, the US government is keeping a BTC reserve, there's a growing interest for crypto ETFs, among many other factors.

Armstrong’s core message is one of accessibility. He wants to assure potential investors that the crypto market is open to everyone, regardless of their budget.
