Sukkur: Larkana police arrested on Monday Naudero police station assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Qurban Ali Gopang on charges of molesting 15-year-old Faheem Hussain Shah at gunpoint on June 22.

According to the police reports, Shah’s elder brother, Syed Jafer Hussain Shah, owns a furniture shop opposite the Naudero police station.

On June 22, Shah went to the washroom near the furniture shop and when he was returning, ASI Gopang took him to the police station and molested him at gunpoint.

The victim informed his brother about the incident, who filed a complaint with the Larkana DIG. The DIG ordered the police to lodge an FIR against Gopang and arrest him.

Meanwhile, Gopang unsuccessfully attempted to pressure Jafer into settling the matter out of the court. Police arrested Gopang after lodging an FIR against him and issued a challan against him in court. The court remanded him into jail custody for 14 days.

Last month, a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) was apprehended on Thursday for allegedly abducting and raping a girl in Lahore.

According to initial reports, DSP Imran Babar abducted and raped the 16-year-old victim on Tuesday.

Following the incident, the victim, a resident of Lahore’s Gulshan-e-Munir colony lodged an FIR (No 832/16) against DSP Babar at Khana Police Station on Thursday.
