A passenger was arrested on suspicion of terrorism from a private flight at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore but released after initial investigation.
Upon receiving a tip-off that 40-year-old Shah Dildar Khan was planning to blow up the plane, Airport Security Force (ASF) personnel cordoned off the plane and arrested him.
The suspect was also held at Muscat airport for investigation for almost two hours prior to boarding the flight.
After security forces conducted an investigation into the matter, Dildar was released.
It was initially reported that Dildar’s brother Shahnawaz Khan had called the airport security claiming Dildar was a terrorist who planned to blow up the plane. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) had submitted a request to file a case against Shahnawaz after the claim was proven wrong.
However, further investigation revealed that Dildar’s wife Sonya and her alleged lover Kashif stole Shahnawaz’s phone and used it to tip-off the airport security personnel.
During interrogation, Dildar had claimed that there was no truth to these claims, indicating that his family members were only doing this due to an on going family feud.
