MANAMA, Bahrain: Arabian Sea helicopter search efforts were underway after a U.S. Navy MH-60S Sea Hawk made an emergency water landing, leaving one crew member missing.
The helicopter was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush, the U.S. Fifth Fleet said in a statement. The incident occurred at about 8:30 GMT in the Arabian Sea.
Three of the helicopter’s four crew members were recovered and were in stable condition aboard the USS George H.W. Bush.
U.S. Navy assets and aircraft were searching the surrounding waters for the fourth crew member. The Fifth Fleet said there was no indication the emergency landing was caused by hostile action.
The cause of the incident was under investigation, according to the U.S. Navy statement.
U.S. Naval Forces Central Command and the U.S. Fifth Fleet are based in Bahrain and oversee U.S. naval operations across the Middle East, including the Arabian Sea.

The MH-60S Sea Hawk supports Navy missions including search and rescue, logistics, medical evacuation and special warfare support, according to NAVAIR.
