Muttahida Qaumi Movement;s (MQM) London-based supreme leader Altaf Hussain, claimed earlier today that he was not serious when he sought help from Indian spymaster and Pakistan’s arch enemy, Research & Analysis Wing (RAW) during his last night’s speech.
“My ‘RAW statement’ was nothing but ‘irony.’ I hold Pakistan Army in high esteem like I have always had and I beg pardon from all the security institutions if I have offended them in any way,” Hussain said in a statement issued in the UK capital London.
A contrite Altaf Hussain seemed quite different from the one who challenged the military establishment last night, said Mohajirs (Muslims who migrated to Pakistan after the partition of Indian subcontinent in 1947)) belonged to no other country than Pakistan.
“Pakistan is, has been, and will always be our homeland. We will live and die for Pakistan,” said he.
Earlier, Minister for Defence, Khawaja Asif says Altaf Hussain’s derogatory remarks against Pakistan’s armed forces had brought shame to all the Mohajirs.
“No Pakistani can give tongue to what Hussain so easily blurted out in his hate speech. The MQM should not have spoken the language of the enemies of Pakistan,” Asif said.
The defence minister also told the MQM to better use political language.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Information, Perviaz Rashid, also woke up to issue a lukewarm condemnatory statement against Altaf Hussain’s anti army tirade that too without mentioning his name.
“This is unacceptably outrageous. Institutions of national defence are above politics,” the minister remarked.
Rashid said Rangers, a paramilitary force, had done a commendable job restoring the social and business activities in Karachi. “The operation conducted by them in Karachi only aimed at criminal elements,” the minister remarked.
The self exiled Mr. Hussain has a past history of venting spleen with inexplicable comments and then apologising the next day.
