A.J. Brown trade talks between the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots are expected to resume after the NFL’s June 1 salary-cap marker, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Schefter said the teams had not spoken in recent weeks, with the timing tied to Brown’s contract structure. Spotrac lists a post-June 1 trade as creating $16.35 million in 2026 dead cap and $27.16 million in 2027 dead cap for Philadelphia, while saving about $7.04 million in 2026 cap space.
Trading Brown before June 1 would have left the Eagles with a much larger immediate cap charge. Spotrac lists his pre-June 1 trade dead cap at $43.51 million for 2026.
Brown has remained one of the NFL’s top receivers since joining Philadelphia. The 29-year-old has posted four straight 1,000-yard seasons, while speculation over his future has grown alongside the Eagles’ roster moves at wide receiver.
New England has been linked with Brown because of head coach Mike Vrabel, who coached him during his rookie season with the Tennessee Titans. Reports have also suggested that a future first-round pick, possibly in 2028, could be part of a potential trade package.
