KARACHI: The 8th Muharram processions are being taken out across the country amid stringent security measures.

Alam processions of Hazrat Abbas will be brought from various parts of the country today, besides various majalis will be organized and relate the Karbala incident and its philosophy with the particular emphasis on the martyrdom of the companions of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS).

The processions started being taken out from the morning amid holding of different majalis to pay homage to Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions.  In Karachi, at least 20,000 personnel of Rangers and police were deployed for security of processions.

Similarly strict security measures are taken in all big cities including Quetta, Peshawar, Lahore and Rawalpindi.

It may be noted here that central general secretary of Shia Ulema Council in Nawabshah has expressed his dissatisfaction over security provided by the government for processions.
