A Bannu checkpost attack targeted the Fatah Khel joint police and Frontier Corps post in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where militants used an explosives-laden vehicle and suicide assault, sources said.
The attackers first detonated a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device before suicide bombers stormed the post. Armed militants then surrounded the site, leading to intense clashes with security personnel.
There are varying casualty figures, saying all 29 police and Frontier Corps personnel at the checkpost died, while another update cited police sources putting the death toll at 15. It also said authorities had confirmed the identities of five police personnel killed in the attack.

Morning footage from Fatah Khel showed heavy damage after the blast, with the police station levelled. Militants also destroyed a nearby “kinger pull” during the assault.
Pakistani security reinforcements were deployed to the area after the attack. Police sources said the assault involved an explosives-laden vehicle followed by gunfire.
IMP claimed details of the attack and also claimed an ambush on security forces coming from Bannu. The group’s statement urged police personnel to resign from their posts, according to the source provided.
