Apple’s built-in 5 MacBook features for students can help record lectures, organize coursework, reduce distractions and move work across devices, according to a BGR guide.
5 macOS tools, such as Voice Memos, Spaces, Handoff, Focus modes and Finder tags, can support daily student tasks without extra software.
Voice Memos lets students record lectures on a 5 MacBook while they listen or take notes. The app can also transcribe audio, allowing students to copy lecture text into a word processor for search, highlighting or summaries.
QuickTime Player also supports recordings, but Voice Memos offers more value for lectures because of its transcription feature.
Spaces, available through Mission Control, lets users create multiple virtual desktops. Students can separate research tabs, writing apps, schedules and course materials across different workspaces.
Handoff allows students using the same Apple ID to move work between a 5 MacBook, iPhone and iPad.

Universal Clipboard lets them copy text, images or video on one Apple device and paste it on another.
Focus modes help students limit notifications while writing, studying or attending class. Apple’s Screen Time feature can also set daily limits for distracting apps and websites.
Finder tags allow students to colour-code files by class, assignment or project. Tags make coursework searchable and filterable as documents, handouts, and media accumulate during a semester.
