Rescue, relief operations in full swing in flood-hit areas

Local administrations, Pak Army are engaged in joint efforts to provide immediate relief to affected people.
 PM Nawaz Sharif directs to expedite relief activities

On the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, rescue and relief operations have been geared up in the flood-hit areas across the country.

The local administrations and the Pakistan Army are engaged in joint efforts to provide immediate relief to the affected people.

Pakistan Army’s Engineering unit and plants in Chitral are working round-the-clock, using heavy machinery to repair damaged bridges and keep roads open.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a special engineers’ team with equipment will also reach Chitral on Wednesday.

Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps with the help of civil administration have already distributed 16 tons of ration among the flood affectees in Chitral.

The Army troops evacuated more than 73 stranded individuals from Garm Chashma, Koragh and Bomboreet to safer places.

Pakistan Army has placed two dedicated MI-17 helicopters in Chitral for the relief and rescue operation.

Frontier Corps have donated 100 tons of ration and food items for the flood affectees of Chitral that is being despatched from Peshawar.

Army Doctors and paramedical staff have been sent to flood affected areas to provide medical relief to the affectees.

COAS directs Army to provide all assistance  

Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif has directed the Pakistan Army to provide all possible assistance to the flood-hit people in Chitral and elsewhere in the country.

According to ISPR, the Field Commanders have been instructed to carry out reconnaissance of the areas which could possibly be affected by floods.

On the instructions of the Army Chief, all Corps Headquarters are monitoring the flood situation in their respective areas.

All preparations have been made to meet any eventuality arising due to expected floods.

KP Govt provides Rs 140 million for rehabilitation work in Chitral

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak says the provincial government has provided one hundred and forty million rupees for rehabilitation work in Chitral.

In a statement in Peshawar, he said fifty trucks loaded with relief goods have been sent to Chitral.

He lauded the role of Pakistan Army in providing relief to the rain and flood affected people of Chitral.

CM Punjab directs to evacuate people of low lying areas along river banks

Punjab Chief Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed the Provincial Cabinet Committee for Flood to immediately evacuate the people of low lying areas along the river banks.

He has also directed to launch relief activities in the flood affected villages in southern Punjab on war-footings.

The Chief Minister said necessary food items may be provided in abundance at the relief camps in the affected areas.

District Admin Muzaffargarh on high alert

The District Administration Muzaffargarh is on high alert regarding the flood situation and the Abbas Wala Bund is being monitored round the clock.

This was stated by a spokesman of Provincial Disaster Management Authority in Lahore.

Skardu: Pak Army shifts 74 families of Nar Goru to safer places

And in Skardu, the Pak Army personnel have shifted seventy four families of village Nar Goru to safer places as precautionary measures.

They have been accommodated them in tents.

According to ISPR, the flood had damaged crops and few mud-houses in the affected areas.

However, there was no loss to human lives and livestock.

Pakistan Army, in its ongoing relief operation, held free medical camp and distributed cooked food among 450 individuals in the flood hit-area. Besides, it provided blankets to the affected people aimed at protecting them from weather conditions.

The Local Brigade Commander also visited Nar Goru village to assess the situation.
