A right-wing group in India issued earlier yesterday a ‘diktat’ prohibiting Muslims from entering upcoming Garba festival events. This was done in order to prevent ‘love’ incidents.
“We have issued a diktat barring the entry of Muslims at Garba events at Mandvi town in Gujrat’s Kutch district,” Raghuvirsinh Jadeja, president of the group, said.
Explaining the reason for the ban, Jadeja said, “Incidents of love where Muslim boys lure and marry our Hindu girls happen at Garba. Our only aim is to protect our girls.”
“We are getting a good response from the people and if the people from other regions respond to this movement, then we will spread it to their regions as well,” he added.
To ensure Muslims do not enter, the organisation will observe each person for a tilak (red mark) on his head and will also be sprayed with cow urine.
“If a person does not apply tilak and hesitates to be sprayed with Gaumutra, he will not be allowed to go inside,” the group’s president said.
“My people would do patrolling outside and inside Garba events and if they find any non-Hindus, they would exclude them.”
