A gang of five robbers armed with a sophisticated device managed to loot valuables worth over Rs15 million from a house in Defence, jamming all nearby Bluetooth, wireless, GPS, and Wi-Fi signals to prevent any distress calls.
The robbers, who have eluded capture across multiple police jurisdictions, used the motorway to escape, taking a Faisalabad interchange exit. At the same time, police waited for them at other points in Islamabad and Sargodha.
Despite extensive efforts and the deployment of special teams, the police have yet to apprehend these seasoned criminals. This incident marks the fourth robbery within 20 days in the Defence A and C.
According to sources, the robbers disabled mobile phone services within a 100-meter radius of the targeted house. The residence in FF Block of DHA Phase 4 was owned by retired SP Rana Azeem and rented to Mubashar Ahmad’s family.
Mubashar recounted that late Tuesday night, five masked men broke into his home. Three were armed with rifles, and two with pistols. The robbers confined the family to one room while they collected 35 tolas of gold jewellery, 12 branded watches, and Rs3.5 million in cash, among other valuables, totalling Rs15.5 million in losses.
Mubashar noted that the robbers included an elderly man aged between 65 and 70 and another around 50.
DIG Imran Kishwar of the Lahore Organised Crime Unit revealed that the same gang had been suspected of having committed four similar robberies over the past 20 days, using a Honda Civic with counterfeit plates each time. After the Tuesday robbery, the gang fled towards the motorway, where an exchange of gunfire occurred near Sherakot. Despite police barricades, the robbers reached the motorway and escaped via an unexpected exit in Faisalabad.
