The Sindh government has exempted markets, shopping malls, restaurants, hotels, marriage halls and marquees from fixed closing hours.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced this on X said the decision was taken to facilitate businesses and citizens. He added that business centres in Sindh could now operate according to their normal hours.
A notification shared by the minister said shops, markets, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, food outlets, marriage halls and marquees were exempted from closure timings. These closure timings were prescribed under the Home Department’s April 10, 2026, notification.
The senior minister said the earlier timings had been imposed under an energy conservation and austerity policy. He said the Sindh government wanted to promote business activity, support citizens and maintain economic stability.
Memon said the decision followed suggestions and difficulties raised by traders and industrialists. He said the provincial government would continue taking measures to address issues faced by the business community.
Business hours had been curtailed across the country last month under energy-saving measures. These measures were introduced after a sharp rise in domestic fuel prices linked to the Middle East conflict.
Under the earlier Sindh restrictions, shops, markets and malls outside divisional headquarters were directed to close at 8pm. Meanwhile, those within divisional headquarters could operate until 9pm. Essential services, including standalone tandoors, dairy shops, bakeries, pharmacies, medical facilities and fuel pumps, had been exempted.
