Due to rising security concerns in Karachi, the Sindh government has announced plans to install CCTV cameras in and around government colleges.
In a circular issued on Thursday, the Directorate of College Education for the Karachi Region instructed principals to enhance the security for students and staff.
“The current security situation in Karachi, combined with increasing theft incidents, necessitates proactive steps to secure government assets, students, and staff effectively,” stated the regional director of Karachi colleges in the circular.

Government college officials are now tasked with implementing CCTV systems to monitor the interior and exterior of college premises.
“The introduction of CCTV cameras will strengthen the security protocols of our colleges in Karachi, assisting law enforcement in monitoring and investigating incidents as they arise,” an official explained.
This security update follows a recent action by Karachi police, who, two days prior, identified 110 domestic helpers with criminal backgrounds to alert city residents. The police released a list that included photographs, mobile numbers, and addresses of individuals suspected of committing various crimes in an organized manner.
Police have emphasized that many of these domestic helpers were employed without the required police verification, highlighting a significant lapse in safety protocols.
