The participants also discussed various strategies to reduce expenses by efficiently using government vehicles and considered auctioning those no longer needed. The committee urged strict adherence to guidelines governing vehicle allotment and usage.
Senior Minister Memon stressed the importance of minimizing unnecessary government vehicle use and reducing costs associated with petrol, oil, and lubricants. He advocated for complete transparency in auctioning idle vehicles.
Data from the Excise and Taxation Department indicates that the Sindh government possesses about 12,000 vehicles across various departments.
A provincial excise department source revealed that once the terms of ministers, advisors, and other politicians conclude, they seldom return the state vehicles, opting to retain them for personal use.
