The Punjab Police have successfully apprehended a police constable implicated in orchestrating a honey trap scheme in Sahiwal.
As per the initial report, constable Rana Akmal was arrested by officers from Farid Town Police, along with two accomplices, following allegations of blackmailing and extorting a local businessman for over 342,000 PKR.
According to police sources, the arrest followed a detailed complaint from the businessman, Arshad, who was reportedly coerced into compromising situations by a gang led by Constable Akmal. The gang, which included two to three women, targeted affluent individuals, entrapping them and subsequently demanding money under the threat of public exposure.
The Station House Officer (SHO) of Farid Town disclosed that Akmal had established a private facility where he detained victims. This unauthorized detention centre was used to exert pressure on victims to fulfil their financial demands.
Arshad’s account to the police detailed a chilling encounter on April 27, where, after a meal with a woman named Maham, he was detained by Akmal. During this detention, Akmal allegedly showed Arshad compromising photographs and threatened to file false robbery and assault charges against him unless he complied with the extortion demands. Arshad claimed he initially paid 300,000 PKR in cash, followed by an additional withdrawal of 43,000 PKR from his debit card, orchestrated by Akmal posing as a senior officer.
