The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) earlier today announced to shut down all of PIA’s booking offices and training centres across the country till February 2.

The decision was made in protest against the what the committee said the government’s proposed privatization of the national flag carrier.

The committee further warned that in case its demands were not fulfilled, the flight operations of PIA would also be suspended on February 2.

However, the PIA administration has requested the union leaders not to lock down booking offices, saying such a move would put the airlines’ passengers in difficulty.

The PIA spokesman further said that any delay in the schedule of flights could cause heavy losses to the national flag carrier.

The spokesman has requested all the employees of PIA to cooperate with the administration.
