OpenAI announced on Monday that its video-generating AI model, Sora, will be released to ChatGPT Plus and Pro users, marking a significant expansion in multimodal AI technologies.
This move by the Microsoft-supported company intensifies the competition with similar text-to-video tools from industry giants like Meta, Google, and Stability AI’s Stable Video Diffusion. Initially introduced in February as a limited feature for safety testers, Sora, now called Sora Turbo, is accessible to premium users without extra charges.
OpenAI today launched its text-to-video generator model, Sora Turbo, to all its users across the globe. It is available to ChatGPT Pro and Plus subscribers.

Sora Turbo allows users to create videos in 1080p resolution, lasting up to 20 seconds, and in various formats, including widescreen, vertical, and square.
While Sora will not be available in EU countries, Switzerland, and the UK, it can be accessed in other regions where ChatGPT operates.
To prevent misuse, OpenAI will block harmful uploads, such as child sexual abuse material and sexual deepfakes.
