Lt-Gen (retd.) Muhammad Alam Khattak has been appointed as the new Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province by the federal goverment.
According to sources, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has accord the approval for the appointment of Khattak as new governor.
Khattak who is currently holding the post of Defence Secretary will resign after his appointment as the governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Khattak has replaced veteran PML-N leader Sardar Mehtab Abbas who resigned earlier this week citing health reasons.
