Expressing his anger over the alleged involvement of his party’s office bearers in “unscrupulous activities”, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) supremo Altaf Hussain earlier today announced his decision to dissolve the Karachi Tanzeem Committee of the party.
“The office bearers take kickbacks of hundreds of thousands of rupees for providing employment,” a distraught MQM Chief said while addressing the party workers in Karachi via telephone from London.
He warned the members of the MQM Rabita Committee as well as its International Secretariat to “mend” their ways within one week’s time, saying discipline has been the pride of his party.
He said not just that, they also take money from Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation (KKF) – the welfare wing of MQM.
Altaf Hussain said the country has been made a mockery of. “The economy is ruined and there is no electricity and employment for people”.
He asked Pakistan’s ‘army and civilians’ to let him visit the country for fifteen days and he will bring about the much needed change in the country.
He said that he can no longer carry the burden of the party and so that now he seeks to be relieved. He said the workers may find a new leader and form new committees.
“This can never happen,” the workers shouted with one voice.
