Karachi: After recent clashes between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) the political ambience in NA 246 was already on heat, it again took a violent turn in NA-246 when workers of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) clashed each other in Liaquatabad late Friday.
The clashes broke when a JI rally encountered the MQM workers at Al-Azam Square.
According to sources, after brief exchange of words, the workers from both sides came to blows with free use of sticks.
MQM spokesman urged the people and workers to exercise restraint and patience, saying that MQM leader Kanwar Naveed tried to contact JI leader Rashid Naseem on phone.
The participants of the JI rally launched an attack at the MQM camp, said the spokesman.
Talking to media, JI spokesman alleged, “MQM activists assailed our rally, leaving our seven to eight workers wounded.”
Some unidentified people battered the DCNG drivers and journalist of GEO and Samaa Tv.
