Police have arrested a member of a group allegedly involved in armed attacks on traffic policemen in the teeming megalopolis of Karachi

According to a preliminary investigation report, Bilal, 24, a resident of New Karachi, was taken into custody from the Civil Hospital Karachi. The accused was being treated at the hospital for a bullet wound on his face which he supposedly sustained while executing yet another attack on a traffic policeman near Board Office in North Karachi.

The report said the suspect fired shots at a traffic policeman from his 30 bore pistol, injuring the officer earlier yesterday. However, he was hit by a bullet on his face in retaliatory fire by the traffic policeman.

Leaving his motorcycle near the crime scene, the suspect got on a bus and disembarked at Nagan Chowrangi from where his accomplices shifted him to Gurudmandir.

According to the report, the injured suspect was shifted to the Civil Hospital through an ambulance service. The ambulance was arranged on the pretext that the man got injured during resistance in a robbery.

When informed about the presence of injured men at the hospital, law enforcers reached the medical facility and took the accused into custody.

The suspect was shifted to an undisclosed location after traffic policeman and eyewitnesses identified the injured man as the gunman involved in the attack.
