The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday admitted for hearing a petition seeking dissolution of national and provincial assemblies.
The petition was filed by Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Punjab’s president Abdul Qayyum Khan who has sought dissolution of assemblies on the grounds that “members are no more Sadiq and Amin as they do not meet the criteria of Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution.”
Khan in his petition accuses legislators of receiving commission from the people of their locality for development projects in the area.
He stated that the MNAs and MPAs have no legal basis to retain their slots since last year’s elections were ‘rigged.’
Admitting the petition for hearing, the LHC has sought replies from federal and provincial governments.
