KARACHI, Sindh: Karachi CTD arrests three men over the August 12 shooting that killed an Independence Day stall owner in DHA Phase 2, the department said Wednesday.
The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) identified the suspects as Zafar Ali, Faraz and Sajjad Ahmad. Officers arrested them on August 18 near Korangi Causeway during a joint operation with a federal intelligence agency.
CTD said officers recovered three hand grenades and a pistol from the suspects. Authorities are taking action under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 and Explosive Substances Act 1908.
The attack took place at about 11:30 pm near Sunset Boulevard. Gunfire seriously wounded stall owner Aman, a resident of Christian Town in Korangi. He later died from his injuries.
According to CTD, Sajjad began checking Independence Day stalls on August 3. Investigators said he selected the DHA Phase 2 stall before carrying out the attack on August 12.
