Iran’s Army Chief, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the helicopter crash that tragically claimed the lives of President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and others.
General Bagheri has established a high-level committee to explore the causes of this devastating accident, as reported by international media. General Ali Abdollahi, Coordinator Deputy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, will oversee the investigation. A delegation of senior officials and national and military-technical experts has been dispatched to East Azarbaijan to conduct a detailed inquiry into the incident.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the Iranian Embassy to offer condolences for the deaths of President Raisi and Foreign Minister Abdollahian.
He expressed profound sympathy to the families of the deceased and the people of Iran during this difficult time.
PM Shehbaz lauded Dr. Raisi as a distinguished scholar and visionary leader, emphasizing that Pakistan has lost a dear friend and brother. He remarked on Dr. Raisi’s significant contributions to strengthening Pakistan-Iran relations and regional cooperation, noting that these efforts will be remembered. He also recalled President Raisi’s recent visit to Pakistan, significantly bolstering bilateral relations. The Prime Minister concluded his remarks by praying for the departed souls to be granted a high place in paradise.
