At least one person was killed when a vehicle of the security forces was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED) on Karakoram Highway near Khanpur village earlier today.
According to sources, explosives were placed inside a trash bag on the roadside.
The vehicle has been completely destroyed. Police have launched a search operation in the area.
According to police, the security forces convoy was on its way to Gilgit from Rawalpindi when the blast occurred.
On the other hand, three people including a soldier were injured in a landmine explosion in Tehsil Safi of Mohmand Agency. The injured were shifted to nearby hospital.
Separately, four to six small rockets were found inside a suspicious bag in front of Army Dog Centre in Rawalpindi at around 8:00am.
Bomb disposal squad was called in to neutralize the rockets
