The provincial government of Punjab on late Wednesday imposed Section-144 across the province in an attempt to quell marchers who have planned to throng Islamabad.
Under the Section-144, there will be a ban on people to carry weapons, sticks and resort to provocative speeches.
The ban also prohibits ‘protesters’ to wear gas masks and use women and children as shields.
Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr. Tahirul Qadri had announced to leave for Islamabad at 10am on Thursday. The PAT chief and PTI head Imran Khan had agreed to move together to the federal capital to demonstrate their strength in the long march.
However, Police said they had detained 2,100 followers of the two sides in the past few days and it was uncertain how many protestors would reach the city.
