Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Friday claimed that the last year general elections were the most transparent and fair in the history of Pakistan.
“It was the most transparent and impartial elections in Pakistan,” Sharif said while addressing a joint session of the National Assembly.
He expressed confidence that the role played by the parliamentary parties would also continue in future to uphold the supremacy of the constitution and democracy.
“Parliament role is setting an example for the democratic governments,” the prime minister said.
He appreciated the role of media and civil society for what he said supporting democracy and the constitution.
“I also thanked people of Pakistan who showed unity and rejected the political parties that are creating chaos in the country,” he remarked.
