Filmmaker Marq Evans presents newly discovered footage as evidence that the famous 1967 Bigfoot video was staged in his documentary titled “Capturing Bigfoot,” set to be released on Tuesday.
The documentary explores a 1966 reel that appears to show a rehearsal for the later recording, according to a report from LADbible on Monday.
Roger Patterson and Robert Gimlin captured the original footage, which lasts about a minute. It features an ape-like figure walking away from the camera, then turning to face it before continuing on its way
That sequence became central to decades of debate over whether the pair had filmed a real creature or a person in costume.

However, Evans’s documentary revisits the recording through earlier footage and the people involved in its creation. It also explores why the film attracted lasting belief and how that belief shaped those involved.
Patterson presented the footage publicly before his death in 1972. “Capturing Bigfoot” is scheduled to arrive on Amazon Prime Video and in selected cinemas on Tuesday.
