Federal government has decided to lift ban on new jobs in the government organizations. It was decided during the meeting of Federal Cabinet, presided over by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today (Monday) in Islamabad.
Speaking to press conference is Islamabad after the meeting, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that 4 important decisions were made today during the meeting. “The first important decision is that the ban on government jobs has been lifted”, said Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader. He said that all the institutions will be free to recruit employees on vacant seats. “Government jobs will be given on merit”, he said.
The second important decision was about the flood victims. Pervaiz Rashid told that each family affected by flood will receive Rs. 25,000 before Eid. “Half of this amount will be given by provincial government of Punjab while the other half will be contributed by Federal government”, told Rashid. He said that Prime Minister has ordered the government to survey the affected areas. “Compensation for damaged houses, crops and cattle will also be given by the government on the basis of the findings of this survey”, Pervaiz Rashid informed.
Over-billing was discussed in detail during the meeting and the third important decision was about this issue. Pervaiz Rashid told that Prime Minister has expressed apprehension over this issue and has directed an audit. He told that those consumers who have consumed less than 200 units will get the compensation during the coming month. Investigation will be done about the consumers who have consumed more than 200 units and if the billed amount will be excessive, compensation will be given.
Pervaiz Rashid told that the fourth most important decision has been made about the old-age benefits and the implementation of minimum-wage rule. He told that the federal cabinet has decided to give a legal cover to this rule to ensure its implementation.
Addressing the press conference on this occasion Federal Minister of State for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that the government is not negligent of its responsibilities. He said that the problems facing people today were inherited by the current government. “Prime Minister has ordered the investigation of over-billing and its audit from three different companies”, told Abid Sher Ali. He said that over-billing is impossible without department’s assistance. “Action will be taken against over-billing”, he assured.
