Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has stated that the provincial government adopted a Constitutional path to extend special powers of Rangers for four months.

Talking to media before the Sindh Assembly session here Monday, Qaim Ali Shah said: “Extension in special powers of paramilitary force will be endorsed through assembly.”

On Saturday Sindh Chief Minister extended special powers for Rangers for the next four months, expressing hope that the paramilitary force would continue to work with the similar enthusiasm with which it is operating in Karachi.

According to a spokesman for the chief minister, the specials powers to the Rangers have been given under the anti-terrorism act.

The city of 20 million people has seen a respite in targeted killing and street crimes after the law enforcement agencies in collaboration with Rangers embarked on a plan to rid the city of violence.
