Eminem’s mother, Debbie Nelson, is grappling with advanced lung cancer, sources told In Touch. Despite her terminal diagnosis, Eminem has not visited her in St. Joseph, Missouri.
The rapper continues to provide financial support to Debbie but has reportedly not spoken directly with her or other relatives in Missouri for many years. The source detailed her condition as “terminally ill with advanced lung cancer.”
“Debbie’s options are limited,” the source explained to In Touch. “She alternates between staying at the cancer centre and with family members, and she does not have much time left.”
Concerns persist about whether Eminem is fully aware of his mother’s health situation. “He’s financially supportive, but there’s no real conversation between them. A dialogue now could offer a chance for reconciliation,” the source added.
Eminem’s relationship with his family has been strained and publicly scrutinized. It is rooted in past disputes, including a 2005 lawsuit in which his aunt and uncle claimed he tried to evict them.
Debbie’s turbulent history with Eminem includes a defamation lawsuit she filed against him in the early 2000s after he mentioned her alleged drug use in his songs. Although she sought $11 million, she ultimately received $25,000, with only $1,600 left after legal fees.

In addition to lung cancer, Debbie has battled breast cancer and faced hereditary health issues like heart disease. In an interview, she expressed concerns about how these conditions affect her family. “I’m still under doctor’s care, which I probably will be for a while,” she said. “I worry about my boys, having high blood pressure and things like that.”
