Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said today that a militant attack on Navy dockyard in Karachi over the weekend was a blowback of ongoing Zarb-e-Azb operation against the Taliban.
Speaking on the floor of the parliament, Asif said recent attacks on an airbase in Quetta and at a dockyard were ‘clear cut’ blowback of (the ongoing) army operation in the tribal areas.
“It is clear that terrorists are now reacting to this operation,” he said, adding Pakistani armed forces are sacrificing their lives for the nation.
On the other hand, he said, people sitting outside the parliament are fighting for their ‘egos.’
He urged media to shift its focus on those sacrificing their lives for Pakistan rather than those who have inflated egos.
Giving details about the dockyard attack, he said that three AK47 rifles, four suicide jackets, one cell phone, one satellite phone, four .30-bore pistols, five 9-mm pistols, 24 hand grenades, 24 detonators and some religious literature were recovered from the terrorists.
In the attack three terrorists were killed while seven were arrested following a valiant counter attack by Navy forces, he further added.
