As a frontrunner in sports simulation games, Big Ant Studios has always impressed with their cricket-focused titles. The newest addition, “Cricket 24,” has piqued the interest of the gaming community and cricket enthusiasts. However, a deeper dive into the game reveals room for improvement.

Gameplay and Graphics: The Good and The Not-So-Good

“Cricket 24” had a grand promise – delivering an unparalleled cricket simulation experience, especially with its PlayStation 5 debut. While the legacy of Big Ant’s previous titles raised expectations, the latest release seems to falter in a few areas.

The primary concern is the gameplay mechanics. While sports simulations thrive on authenticity, “Cricket 24” seems to miss the mark with its controls and in-game character dynamics. The motion feels somewhat stiff, and managing the in-field dynamics can complicate the immersive gaming experience.

From a visual standpoint, though the game has made strides compared to its predecessors, it doesn’t fully leverage the capabilities of the PS5. Character designs are commendable, but the backdrop—especially the stadium aesthetics—doesn’t reflect the finesse one expects from next-gen gaming.

Looking Forward: Is All Hope Lost?

It’s crucial to note that “Cricket 24” is still nascent, and Big Ant Studios has showcased its knack for refining its games post-launch. While initial impressions hint at a few pitfalls, it might be premature to discount the game entirely. Cricket enthusiasts might still discover elements that resonate with them in this new title.

Final Verdict

While “Cricket 24” presents potential, it is a slightly awkward entrant in the sports simulation genre. It remains to be seen if Big Ant Studios can transform this release into the next big hit for cricket gaming on the PlayStation 5.
